Hi! Welcome to my blog!
Who am I? My name is Carol Tadeusik and I am a psychologist in Durham, North Carolina. I have been in practice for 25 years (that's hard to believe!) and have had a private psychotherapy practice for 22 years. There are so many things about my work that I just love (which I will tell you about as time goes by) but mostly I love hearing people's stories and appreciating when I can make a difference in their lives. Sometimes a client will say "I could never do what you do, it seems so depressing!" Well, sometimes it is but most of the time, I feel so privileged to witness people's lives and struggles. It has to be one of the most interesting jobs in the world. Even though the essential elements of the process are pretty much the same for all clients, every conversation is different and unique. I think my therapeutic style is constant but how things turn out is just different enough with every person that it never gets stale. I learn so much from every client, about myself, about life, about how remarkably resilient humans can be. I'm eager to write this blog to reach a larger audience than what I can in my psychotherapy practice. I hope to use this blog to tell you about ideas that interest me, to tell you about psychological concepts that I think might be helpful to you, to talk about books and articles I've read (I am a voracious reader!), and to share things I'm thinking about. I hope it will be interesting to you, I'm looking forward to it! One disclaimer that I better put in here: please don't take any of what I write here as treatment or professional advice. I invite you to consider what I say and see if it fits for you. Obviously, I am a big fan of psychotherapy and I wish it was more accessible to everyone. If what you read here moves you in that direction, hooray! Thank you for stopping by. I'd love to hear your comments. Please come back again! :-)
