About Privacy
Psychotherapy is a private process and often involves the discussion of very sensitive issues. Your privacy is important to you, and it will be important to me if you choose me as your mental health provider. As a psychologist, I adhere to the HIPAA privacy practices and a code of ethics, both of which include strong standards for maintaining client privacy and confidentiality.
While I am committed to protecting your privacy, there are a few exceptions to preserving confidentiality, including situations related to child abuse and being a danger to yourself or others. We will review these exceptions at our first meeting, and I encourage you to discuss these issues with me at any time before, during, or following treatment.
Communicating via e-mail has become a convenient and efficient method of being in touch. While I do use e-mail frequently, please be aware that e-mail is not a secure method of communicating confidential information. It can be intercepted in transmission or misdirected. Your use of e-mail to communicate indicates that you acknowledge and accept the possible risks associated with such communication. If you wish to contact me confidentially, please call me at (919) 489-3151.
I will never share your e-mail address with anyone - I promise.
